I cannot remember after university days when was the last time I had and was witness to so many impassioned discussions on political will or lack of it and the state of the country. I feel perversely happy to see this fervour and anger outside a liberal arts department. This anger might be rooted in disillusionment and often cynicism but I still see hope, for to speak is the first step.
I am posting links to two previous posts on the blog that were rants on a lot of the same topics that are being raised on the streets today and some more issues that I hope we do not forget in these times of fear. Some of you have read them and we've had debates over them but I am hoping to hear from a some more people this time.

Agree with you completely and hope this is the start of a new chapter for our nation and out of all this tragedy and chaos we have seen some good happen with a national awakening. Days have passed but even today I sense the feeling of frustration and unlike the past discussions are not revolving around what has happened and giving a few gaalis to those reponsible but the discussions be it the blog entries or at coffee shop gup shups or lunch meetings are all about what can be done, ppl travelled hundreds of kilometers to be part of the peace rally, people in my colony are going through whatever red tape to get their names registered on the voting list, there is action everywhere.. Anu I would like to know what you think of the latest topic doing the rounds being hits by the Airforce on terrorist camps- my worry is that even if india were to do it and a lot of ppl are advocating we do it and even if we succesfuly hit the perpetrators of terror and dont miss, certainly these guys will come up with pics of civilians young and old and claim that the airforce hit a civilian habitat instead of the camp and it would end up in the attention of the international community being diverted from the root cause of concern.
Completely, agree...in fact the next post will be completely focused on the impracticality of any armed action, at the moment.
