I am posting this link at the risk of really annoying my non-cricket crazy friends. I would also like to point out that I am not trying to plug in Cricinfo, I am not even registered on the site. It is just that after reading the following article I just fell in love all over again with a man I am already completely and madly in love with---Rahul Dravid, the author of this feature on VVS. Laxman. The tone is so respectful, gentle and wise, I am eagerly awaiting the day he will write his memoirs. ( I know I seem to be losing it a bit here but that's par course where Dravid is involved.)

The thing that charactarizes the generation of Dravid/ Laxman/ Lara/ Kumble/ Sachin was how they never let success get to their head. I an hear some corners whisper that India's moment in cricket glory is around the corner, but I think India's golden generation is just about to hang their boots....we have valiant upstarts trying to make their mark, maybe they will but sachins & dravids will ever remain special
Am glad to see this cricket theme series of blogs from you!!! Actually the memoir when it comes would be great and I look forward to it to sort one incident in Rahul's career which disturbed me quite a bit then and does even now, its not those double hundreds that come to mind but unfortunately the Test in Pakisthan when he declared with Sachin stranded at 192, for a man of Sachins Calibre, in those days it would probably have taken him two deliveries to reach the landmark and would not have cost the team that much considering how things panned out. That apart its his class as an individual which makes him stand apart in my opinion. I look forward to hearing him and Harsha ( Bhogle) comment together on espn !!but thats only after he scores a couple of thousand more runs!!
Would the Dravid we all know and a ot of us love declare to just spite Sachin? I would say never! Hopefully Dravid himself will go back to this incident and talk about it someday...for me even if does'nt-there is no doubting his integrity. If there ever was a team player, it was him.
