Animal Instincts

I often wish, I was a turtle,
To hide in a shell in times of trouble.

I also wish I was a cat,
I could love me, even when lazy and fat.

Or, maybe, just a crow,
Who is not always reaching for a higher brow.

Couldn’t I just have been a pig?
And ignore all the muck in my dig.

I wouldn’t mind being a dog at all,
For then I could easily love all.

I wouldn’t say no to be a dove,
Everyone could use me for peace and love.

I am okay with all, except human,
It is no better than being a demon.
